2018 Susan M. Daniels Disability Mentoring Hall of Fame Call for Nominations

Nominations are currently being sought for the 2018 Susan M. Daniels Disability Mentoring Hall of Fame, a program of the National Disability Mentoring Coalition. Nominations will be accepted through August 15, 2018 via the Coalition’s website, www.disabilitymentors.org, on the Hall of Fame page.

Background

The Susan M. Daniels Disability Mentoring Hall of Fame was established by the National Disability Mentoring Coalition to honor people and programs making a significant difference in the lives of youth and adults with disabilities through mentoring and to raise awareness about the importance of mentoring for individuals with disabilities.

The Hall of Fame’s namesake, Susan M. Daniels, devoted her life to improving the lives of others with disabilities. As a person with a disability who achieved enormous professional and personal success, she had significant impact as a senior policy maker, as an inspirational speaker and teacher, and as a mentor to hundreds of individuals.

  • In 2015, the Coalition named 25 outstanding leaders as the first inductees into the Hall of Fame to mark the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Those inductees were selected for their demonstrated commitment to mentoring and for their impact on improving the lives of people with disabilities.
  • In 2016, 17 individual mentors and four mentoring programs were inducted into the Hall of Fame through a public nomination process.
  • In 2017, 24 individual mentors and four mentoring programs were inducted into the Hall of Fame.

To nominate an individual or organization for the Class of 2018, go to www.pyd.org/hall-of-fame.php and click on “Submit a 2018 Nomination.” Nominators will receive a confirmation email once the complete nomination has been submitted.
