The Family Support Research and Training Center is doing a national search to identify promising local, state, and national programs that support family caregivers of individuals with disabilities and/or seniors.
What are they looking for?
They are interested in any successful program or practice that supports family caregivers. It can target any population(s) of caregivers:
Caregivers of individuals disabilities, including intellectual, developmental, and/or physical disabilities, as well as those living with mental illness
- Caregivers of children, adolescents and adults with disabilities
- Caregivers of seniors
- Caregivers of veteransÂ
It can provide any type or combination of supports, such as:
- Information, Counseling, Navigation
- Peer Support and Advocacy
- Emotional Support
- Caregiver interventions
- Supports that are cross-community and cross-population
- Asset-based community development supports
- Co-op arrangements that enable sharing caregiver responsibilities
- Home modifications and/or assistive technology
- Caregiver training
- Respite
- Employer programs for family caregivers
- Other In-Home supports
Why is this important?
They will share what they learn with aging and disability advocates across the country. This will help advocates learn from each other and help inform development of practices and programs reach other areas of the country or caregivers across disabilities.
