Free Webinar – Holding the Course: Stabilizing Business Operations

Business is inherently risky. To start a business, you have to identify a need, build a plan, invest time and resources and work diligently to make sure that it is successful. The same is true when you manage your business. Nothing stays exactly the same. To improve or adjust to an evolving environment, you may need to change who you work with or how you deliver services. Any modification to how you do business such as development or adjustment to a business strategy involves some level of risk. The trick is to decide what kind and how much risk you can accept in order to move your business forward.

When developing strategic and operational plans, the first priority for many disability CBOs is to stabilize their operations. This means building the essential infrastructure and supports that an organization needs to thrive. Specifically, it may result in an intentional focus on staff, a change in administration practices such as documentation and billing processes or compliance with contractual expectations, rules or regulations.

Join the HCBS Business Acumen Center as Chip Dodd (President and CEO of Support Services of Virginia, Inc. – SSVA) and Laura Vegas (MCO Business Acumen Director at the National Association of State Directors of Developmental Disabilities Services – NASDDDS) discuss strategies and resources disability organizations can use to stabilize their organizations through turbulent times.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand efforts CBOs can make to stabilize their workforce.
  • Understand how CBOs can monitor their programs to enhance business process efficiency.
  • Understand how the NCI Staff Stability Survey can be used to evaluate the stability and characteristics of the direct support professional workforce.

Intended Audience:

This webinar will be of interest to leaders of community-based organizations (CBOs), specifically people responsible for human resources, staff supervision, workflow development and finance and budget monitoring.
