Information Alert: NCIL Working to Get Answers from RSA on Only Providing 29% of IL Funds

We Need $ to Free Our People 2009 protest signIn a recent communication from the Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) regarding “FY 2013 Continuing Resolution – RSA Formula Grant Awards,” RSA seems to indicate that they will only be providing about 29% of the amount of Part B IL funding for FY 2013. The National Council on Independent Living (NCIL) does not know exactly what this will mean for Centers yet; however we have been in contact with RSA and the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS). NCIL remains uncertain about why RSA is withholding funds; however we are working on getting answers and will relay information to Centers as soon as we receive it.

The FY 2013 Continuing Resolution (CR) does not directly affect CILs unless they rely on FY 2013 Part B funds made available during the CR to supplement their total funding. When the FY 2013 budget is passed, at that point RSA says it will determine the amount of Part C funds for the FY 2013 continuation awards. More updates to come.
