Independent Living News & Policy from the National Council on Independent Living

NCIL & the ADA National Network Present A Three-Part Webinar Series – Accessibility and ADA: Facility Standards Update

Cost: $40.00 per location for the full series!

Every Center for Independent Living (CIL) should have at least one person on staff who knows the ADA inside and out, and who knows where to go for answers to questions when they come up. One of the best resources for those answers has always been your local ADA Center, which is a member of the ADA National Network.

NCIL is pleased to be co-sponsoring a webinar training series provided by the ADA National Network that will focus on the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design, which finally went into effect in 2012.

This training is extremely affordable, and the webinar format lets you participate online from the comfort of your location! NCIL would love to see a representative from every CIL in the nation as we, as a community, take advantage of this opportunity to become a more powerful resource!

When

  • This webinar series will run three consecutive Thursdays: January 30, February 6, and February 13. All sessions run from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Eastern.

Other Resources

NCIL will continue to actively pursue opportunities for collaborations with other groups and organizations to provide education on the ADA to our membership.

For a basic training / refresher course on the ADA, take the online course found at www.adabasics.org to gain a foundation of knowledge on the ADA, including the various Titles and the Definition of Disability according to the law. The self-paced course accommodates everyone’s schedule and provides a record that you completed the work. We highly recommend that Center staff take this course, either as a basic training on the ADA or as a refresher for those who have not have had formal training recently.

NCIL urges our membership to recommit to supporting and spreading the word on the importance of ADA education in 2014!
