Training Webinar on Opposing Assisted Suicide

This year, more states than ever before have seen physician assisted suicide legislation introduced. The National Council on Independent Living stands with all of the other national disability rights organizations that have taken a position on assisted suicide in strongly opposing these laws.

We invite you to join Patients’ Rights Action Fund, NCIL, and the Great Lakes ADA Center for a training webinar entitled “Pro-Patient, Anti-Assisted Suicide: Foundational Basics in Opposing the Legalization of Assisted Suicide”. In this training, you will learn how current assisted suicide laws work, why these laws are particularly dangerous for people with disabilities, and how to effectively advocate against these laws in your state.

Assisted suicide laws devalue the lives of people with disabilities by reinforcing stereotypes about whose lives are worth living. We need to continue to work together against these proposed laws and remind legislators that people experiencing illness and disability should not have to die to have dignity.
